Part 61 gives you much more flexibility when it comes to arranging the content for your lessons. Part 141 is much stricter and sticks to the paperwork and lesson plans provided.

Choosing the Flight School

Whether you choose Part 61 or Part 141 will depend on how much time you have to spend learning how to fly and where you live. This is because both parts may not be available where you live.

You also need to consider the requirements for the schools. Accredited training schools have rigid requirements and standards that must be followed. You are also required to apply to an agency that is accredited by the United States Department of Education.

Aviation Flight Schools

This type of school will allow you to obtain a degree that lets you be a professional pilot. If you want a full-time career flying passenger planes across the country, then you need to attend this type of school. If you have an aviation degree, this looks good on your resume and will open many doors for you. Many airlines will require that you have this degree.

If you do not have enough money to attend aviation school, you should check into scholarships and types of financial aid.  These scholarships and financial aid will also help you if you attend a Part 61 or Part 141 training facility. If you are a veteran, you may be reimbursed for your training costs with Part 141 schools.
